The 46th annual meeting of the drug information association in Washington, D.C., from June 13-17, 2010, hosted more than 475 exhibiting companies.
John Crowley, president and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics, the quintessential spokesman for families seeking life-saving therapies, led a special session where he retold the emotional story of how he and his family navigated the challenging clinical trial process. His own children, Patrick and Megan, suffer from Pompe Disease, a rare and nearly always fatal neuromuscular disorder.
Keynote speakers Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D., Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Jeff Goldsmith, Ph.D., Associate Professor, University of Virginia; President, Health Futures Inc., punctuated a program featuring more than 25 special topics, including oncology, biosimilars, pediatrics, social media, as well as special sessions on comparative effectiveness research and multiregional clinical trials.
The 47th annual meeting — convergence of science, medicine, and health — is scheduled for June 19-23, 2011, in Chicago.
