Eisai, Teaneck, N.J., is a research-based human healthcare company that discovers, develops, and markets products in more than 30 countries. The company has appointed Joseph DaBronzo, Pharm.D., J.D., director, scientific and professional education. Dr. DaBronzo is responsible for leadership of the medical science liaison teams and chairs committees for the scientific review of Eisai grants for continuing medical education and independent investigator initiatives. Dr. DaBronzo has more than 15 years of pharmaceutical experience, having worked most recently with Sanofi Pasteur and Purdue Pharma. He holds a doctor of pharmacy degree from the State University of New York and juris doctor from Pace University. Antonia LoPresti-Solis, M.D., has been promoted to senior medical director, medical services. Dr. LoPresti-Solis is responsible for leading the medical safety team in providing for the review and assessment of evolving safety information for all products assigned to the U.S. General Safety Office. Dr. LoPresti-Solis completed her undergraduate degree in biology at St. Peter’s College in New Jersey and obtained her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. Among other promotions, Nicole Merlo has been promoted to product manager; Mabel Lam Tse, Pharm.D., has been promoted to senior drug information manager from drug information manager; and Kim Van Iderstine has been promoted to product manager from associate product manager. Bing Yuan has been promoted to senior manager, global medical and marketing services, from marketing manager, new products. Jamie Harrell Mark Stanton MedImmune Expands Commercial Organization MedImmune, Gaithersburg, Md., which focuses on the areas of infectious diseases, cancer, and inflammatory diseases, has added to its commercial management organization. Jamie Harrell has been appointed VP, infectious disease marketing, and Mark Stanton as VP, managed markets. The addition of Mr. Harrell and Mr. Stanton builds on MedImmune’s commercial leadership expansion. Mr. Harrell is responsible for leading the strategic direction of marketing activities for Synagis as well as the commercialization of MedImmune’s next-generation monoclonal antibody for RSV. Before joining MedImmune, Mr. Harrell was senior director at Centocor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in administration with a double major in marketing and economics from Samford University. Mr. Stanton is leveraging his 12 years of managed-care experience to build and lead MedImmune’s integrated strategy to support all products in the managed-care market. His previous position was at Endo Pharmaceuticals. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Castleton State College. Greg Irace Tim Rothwell Sanofi-Aventis Adds Staff Sanofi-Aventis, Bridgewater, N.J., a worldwide pharmaceutical company, has promoted Greg Irace to president and CEO of U.S. pharmaceutical operations from chief financial officer and senior VP, finance and administration. As president and CEO, Mr. Irace assumes executive leadership and management responsibility for the company’s pharmaceutical business in the United States. In other news, Tim Rothwell has been named chairman of U.S. pharmaceutical activities, which gives him direct responsibility for communications and government policy. He focuses broadly on group operations in the United States, including external Sanofi-Aventis efforts relating to communications and government policy aimed at projecting and protecting the company’s image and impact in the states. Dr. Mehmood Khan Takeda Global R&D Center Names President Takeda Global R&D Center, Deerfield, Ill., has appointed Mehmood Khan, M.D., as president. The organization develops new product candidates, conducts postmarketing clinical studies, and identifies and develops innovative life-cycle management approaches for marketed drugs. Formerly senior VP, medical and scientific affairs, for Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Dr. Khan brings more than 25 years of academic and clinical experience to the role. Before joining Takeda in 2003, he worked in the Mayo Clinic’s division of endocrinology. Dr. Khan earned his degree from the University of Liverpool Medical School, United Kingdom, and completed a fellowship in clinical endocrinology at the Department of Medicine, University of Minnesota. Bernard Poussot Wyeth Announces Executive Promotion Wyeth, Madison, N.J., a research-driven pharmaceutical and healthcare products company, has appointed Bernard Poussot, 55, president, chief operating officer, and vice chairman. Mr. Poussot remains responsible for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and Wyeth R&D, as well as the Wyeth Consumer Healthcare and Fort Dodge Animal Health divisions of the company. Mr. Poussot has been at Wyeth for more than 20 years. In 2006, Mr. Poussot was promoted to president and vice chairman. Lori Queisser Brent Saunders Schering-Plough Makes Changes to Management Team Schering-Plough, Kenilworth, N.J., a global science-based healthcare company with leading prescription, consumer, and animal health products, has named Lori Queisser senior VP, global compliance and business practices. Ms. Queisser joins Schering-Plough from Eli Lilly. She holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Indiana University School of Business. Schering-Plough has promoted Brent Saunders to senior VP and president, consumer healthcare. Mr. Saunders is responsible for leading the U.S. and Canadian consumer healthcare business, and he works collaboratively with the global pharmaceutical business unit.
